About the school

Children’s House Montessori School East Boca (CHMS) offers full-time and part-time preschool and kindergarten programs for children age two-and-a-half to six, including VPK. CHMS also offers after-care, enrichment programs and a summer camp. Open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, CHMS has served East Boca Raton families since 1988. The school’s mission is “to engage the whole child in the learning process to stimulate his or her social, intellectual, physical and spiritual character development.” One parent described CHMS as “an amazing, beautiful, welcoming school where every child is given prompt attention and warm, loving care.”

Educational philosophy and administration

Children’s House Montessori School East Boca uses the Montessori curriculum, featuring multi-aged classrooms and focusing on each child’s developmental strengths. The Montessori philosophy is based on the belief that children have a natural desire to learn. Schools using the Montessori method pair highly trained teachers with a hand-on experience tailored to the preferences of each child. CHMS’ enrichment programs include karate, art, gymnastics and dance. Children age three and up can also learn to play the violin and piano. The school encourages children to complete the full three-year program. Director Sally Hascup leads the staff at Children’s House Montessori School East Boca, and is described by parents as “loving, nurturing, intelligent and kind.” Sally stresses parental involvement and has created a Parent Advisory Committee that helps plan programs for the year, including the fall festival and the end-of-the-year picnic. Parents appreciate the open dialogue, with one saying “the teachers and staff always maintained open, honest and caring communication with me.” CHMS also offers observation rooms, where parents can monitor their children from a distance.
