About the school

NAEYC-accredited Kids for Kids Academy (K4K) provides full-day and half-day programs for children from infancy through age five, including VPK. Established in Miami in 2005, K4K is open from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm. One parent remarked, “I have never seen an educational center where the children don't want to leave and are so excited to get there the next morning.” Parents also call the school “clean,” “organized,” “safe,” “friendly,” “nurturing,” “amazing,” and “wonderful.” One parent noted, “You can tell that they spare no expense to create an environment where our girls feel safe, loved, appreciated and motivated to learn.” Another stated, “As an attorney who works in family law, I have been exposed to many childcare providers and can say without a doubt that the facility is the best I have seen.”

Educational philosophy and administration

K4K’s proprietary thematic curriculum, Hands On Minds On, takes a whole child perspective and covers math, reading, art, literacy, social-emotional, science, and physical domains. Science education is the school’s particular specialty, following the director’s conclusion that “young minds grow through curiosity and critical thinking skills in our hands on science laboratory.” Students attend weekly music classes and have access to a library of over 50,000 books. The academy also runs a Smart Start Healthy Kids Initiative that develops strong bodies through physical education, soccer, and a USDA-recognized organic farm-to-table meal plan. Teachers emphasize the practice of empathy and kindness. Classrooms are divided into blocks, dramatic play, reading, games, art, and discovery centers. One parent commented that after “just a week of having my four year old son with K4K he came home talking about Magnetism. I was blown away. The school’s dynamic science approach to teaching our children is nothing short of amazing.” A local elementary school teacher observed that when “looking at the kids on the honor roll, most of them come from Kids For Kids Academy.” Center Director and author Beth Davis, who parents call “a true educator in every sense of the word,” says that at K4K, “We know you’re never too small to make a big difference.” Beth holds a B.A. in Elementary Education, an M.A. in Teaching English Speakers of Other Languages, and an Ed.S. in Computer Education. She previously taught in Barry University’s College of Education and served as a curriculum consultant for the Florida Department of Education. K4K is committed to celebrating and nurturing the best in teachers as well as students, and highlights each teacher’s unique strengths on its website. One parent remarked that “the teachers and staff are all very kind and loving, and they focus on the positive characteristics of each child and help them shine!” Another observed, “The owner and the teachers…are all so warm, patient, encouraging, consistent, and benevolent.” Several parents also commented on the school’s excellent parent-teacher communication.
