About the school

The Montessori Garden (TMG) offers full-time and part-time programs for children age three months through six years, including VPK. The school began serving families in the Southwest Miami area in 2001. It’s open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm, with after-care. TMG’s goal statement reads as follows: “Our goal is to help children grow at their own pace and encourage students to learn HOW TO LEARN.

Educational philosophy and administration

The Montessori Garden’s curriculum and teaching strategy is founded on the method developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. That method is a child-centered approach designed around scientific observations of early childhood development. Activities are hands-on and self-directed, and teachers serve as guides. Within that framework, the school has created developmentally-appropriate activities and goals for each age group. TMG also offers enrichments including music, piano and Tae Kwan Do. Multiple parents praise the quality of education TMG provides, including their help with potty training.
