Educational philosophy and administration

The Voyager Early Learning Center uses a curriculum that focuses on various developmental skills: social/emotional, gross and fine motor skills, art, cognitive and language. The classrooms are designed for children to explore and learn independence. Enrichment activities include a gardening program and a block STEM program. The school’s leadership knows “that every child learns differently.” With that in mind, teachers “build to every child's strengths and give them the fundamentals to succeed in the future. We provide them with a fun and safe environment where they are able to learn efficiently.” The Voyager Early Learning Center, led by Director Rosalyn Hudson-Laney, promotes a “nurturing and exciting child centered environment.” The staff at VELC is required to undergo ongoing training including professional development, in-house training and educational conferences. One parent comments that Rosalyn leads a “great daycare and preschool.”
