Educational philosophy and administration
North Lauderdale Children’s Academy employs a blended educational philosophy, with elements of the Play-Based and Reggio Emelia approaches. Play-based childcare centers are based on the idea that children learn best through play. This includes both open-ended play and more structured play. Pretend play, play-based activities, and learning centers are core to this approach. The Reggio Emilia approach is founded in student-centered, experiential learning. This approach, views young children as innately curious about the world around them. Students have a hand in directing their own learning and building relationships within the classroom is core to growth and development. Enrichment activities at NLCA include STEM, dance, karate and community development. Owner Monica Cruz and Director Whitney Haney lead the staff at North Lauderdale Children’s Academy.
