About the school

The Learning Center of South Park (TLCSP) offers full-time and part-time programs for children age six weeks through five years, including VPK. This preschool began serving families in the Orlando area in 2002. It’s open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm, with after-care for students up to age eight.

Educational philosophy and administration

The Learning Center of South Park implements the High Scope Curriculum for development of Sensory/Motor, Social/Emotional, Language/Communications and Cognitive skills. According to the school, “The fundamental premise of the High Scope Curriculum is that children are active learners – learning best from activities they plan and carry out themselves.” To that end, the teachers’ role “is to accompany children on their journey, clearing the path to obstacles and offering encouragement and guidance, not surging to the forefront to lead the way.” Underlying the curriculum are elements of the Reggio Emilia approach, which is rooted in student-centered, experiential learning.
